New Immigration commissioner named

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has appointed Atty. Norman G. Tansingco as the new Commissioner of Immigration (BI).

Tansingco was the chief of staff to then-Commissioner Marcelino Libanan at BI for nearly a decade, from July 2007 to January 2017.

He was also a concurrent technical assistant for operations in the Office of the Commissioner and an attorney III on the BI Board of Special Inquiry.

Tansingco served as Libanan’s chief of staff from July 1998 to June 2007, when the latter was a member of the House of Representatives, representing the lone district of Eastern Samar.

Tansingco was admitted to the Philippine bar in 1991 as a certified public accountant.
