SCHOLARSHIP: London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, UK International Scholarship for Postgraduate | Masters Students

The London School of Hygiene First Generation Scholarship is open to applicants intending to commence study on a distance learning programme at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) in 2025-26.
These initiatives are designed to enable excellent students from groups who have been historically underrepresented in Higher Education at the postgraduate level to study, feel a sense of belonging and succeed at LSHTM.

Founded in 1899 at the London Docks, LSHTM has two UK sites in the Bloomsbury area of London at Keppel Street and Tavistock Place, and units in The Gambia and Uganda. Originally set up to serve a colonial mission, today we are a global network of specialist centres and partners, working together to improve health worldwide. Scholarship eligibility requirements:
To be considered for the LSHTM First Generation Scholarship, you must:
- meet minimum English language requirements;
- must hold an offer of admission by 28 March 2025
- hold an offer of admission for 2025-26 for one of LSHTM’s 6 distance learning MSc programmes of study;
- The first in their family to enter higher education, meaning where neither of the applicant’s mother or father (biological, adoptive or foster) or guardian(s) had graduated with a university degree
- You will not be eligible for the First Generation scholarship if you already have a master’s degree or a qualification that’s higher than a master’s degree.

To apply for the LSHTM First Generation Scholarship, interested and qualified candidates should follow the steps below;

- Ensure that all necessary supplementary admissions documents (including references) are submitted via the admissions portal.
Scholarship Benefits:
- The recipients will be expected to finish their respective programme within five years of registration.
- The LSHTM First Generation Scholarship provides full tuition fees.
