Applications for the University of Kent GREAT Scholarships have now open for the 2026/27 academic session.

About university:

The University of Kent (formerly the University of Kent at Canterbury, abbreviated as UKC) is a semi-collegiate public research university based in Kent, United Kingdom. The university was granted its royal charter on 4 January 1965 and the following year Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent, was formally installed as the first Chancellor.

Scholarship eligibility requirements:

To be considered for the University of Kent GREAT Scholarship, you must:

  • Be a Ghanaian, Indian, Kenyan, Malaysian, Nigerian, Thai or Turkish passport holder and live in Ghana, India, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand or Türkiye, and be assessed as an overseas fee payer;
  • Have received a conditional offer for a one year full time course at one of our UK campuses and have accepted this before the deadline date of 24 April 2026;
  • Have submitted an expression of interest for the GREAT scholarship (please see below for full details)
  • Be starting your course in September 2026;
  • Be active in the field with work experience or proven interest in the subject area;
  • Be willing to embody the UK Higher Education experience, by attending lectures and tutorials and engaging with extra-curricular activities, and act as an ambassador for UK Higher Education by promoting the value of studying at a UK HEI;
  • Be willing to establish an engagement with the UK as a scholar, through personal and academic fulfilment;
  • Represent the high standards of the GREAT brand by becoming an advocate for scholarships; and
  • Be willing to attend a networking event of all UK-based GREAT scholars, to discuss experiences and capture perceptions of studying in the UK.

To apply for the University of Kent GREAT Scholarship, interested and qualified candidates should;

  • Apply for admission to an eligible program at Kent
  • Ensure you meet all eligibility requirements and have received a conditional offer from the University of Kent.
  • Apply for the scholarship through your applicant portal.
  • You will be required to submit an essay of no more than 500 words discussing a topic you’ve studied and its relevance to your chosen degree program. This essay should highlight your motivation and interest in your field.
