The University of Wisconsin La Crosse Scholarship seeks to engage candidates for the 2025 fall semester, starting September 1st, 2025, to work on a funded research project investigating the movement of invasive carps throughout the Lower Wisconsin River.

The graduate student will be responsible for developing a thesis that provides information about the large-scale movements and occupancy zone transition probabilities of acoustically tagged invasive carp in the region.

Scholarship eligibility requirements:

To be considered for the University of Wisconsin Scholarship, you must:

  • Have a B.A or B.S. in fisheries science, aquatic biology, ecology, or related field with writing experience and coursework in statistical analysis.
  • Competitive applicants will have some field sampling experience in aquatic or fisheries ecology and an interest in working with natural resource agencies.
  • Previous experience contributing to research projects or engaging in scientific writing and experience analyzing movement data is preferred.

Scholarship Benefits:

The University of Wisconsin La Crosse Scholarship is a funded research project providing a stipend of $26,500 per year to selected candidates.
