Swansea University is a prominent public research institution founded in 1920. Initially established as University College of Swansea, it became Swansea University in 2007. Scholarship eligibility requirements:

  • Eligible Countries: All countries
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science
  • Admissible Criteria:
    • Candidates must hold a UK bachelor’s degree with a minimum of Upper Second Class honors or an equivalent overseas degree.
    • Alternatively, a master’s degree with a minimum overall grade at ‘Merit’ or its non-UK equivalent.
    • English Language Proficiency: IELTS 6.5 overall (with no individual component below 6.0) or a recognized equivalent by Swansea University.
    • Some applicants may require ATAS clearance as per the UK Government’s guidelines.

Scholarship Application Guidelines:

  1. Course choice: Select Physics/ PhD / Full-time / 3 Years / January
  2. Start year: 2025
  3. Funding (page 8):
    • Select ‘No’ for ‘Are you funding your studies yourself?’
    • Enter ‘RS672 – Lattice Field’ for ‘Name of Individual or organization providing funds for study.’
  4. Submit Required Documents:
    • CV
    • Degree certificates and transcripts (screenshots acceptable if currently studying)
    • Cover letter with a ‘Supplementary Personal Statement’
    • Two references on headed paper or Swansea University reference form
    • Evidence of English Language proficiency (if applicable)
    • Copy of UK resident visa (if applicable)

Scholarship Benefits:

  • Full cost of tuition fees covered
  • Annual stipend of £19,237
  • Additional research expenses up to £1,000 per year
  • Swansea University International Postgraduate Research Excellence Scholarship (SUIPRES) to cover the difference between International and Home/UK tuition fees for eligible students.
