The National Scholarship Portal (NSP) is a digital platform that offers scholarships from the federal government, state governments, and various government agencies such as the University Grants Commission (UGC). Under the National e-Governance Plan, the NSP Portal is designated as a Mission Mode Project.

The National Scholarship Portal covers all types of scholarships for students from Class 1 to PhD level. The NSP Portal manages a variety of services such as verifying student applications, providing application receipts, processing applications, and sanctioning and disbursing scholarship funds to recipients.

2022-23 National Scholarship Portal (NSP) – What exactly is it?

The National Scholarship Portal, introduced as the Mission Mode Project under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP), emerges as one of the most prominent scholarship portals, offering a variety of services ranging from student scholarship application to scholarship disbursement. The portal, which provides a SMART (Simplified, Mission-oriented, Accountable, Responsive, and Transparent) system for effective and faster scholarship disposal, ensures direct delivery of funds to the beneficiary’s account, avoiding any chances of leakage.

The NSP can benefit you in the following ways –

  • All types of scholarship information can be found on one platform.
  • All scholarships require a single integrated application, which simplifies the application process.
  • The portal provides greater transparency to all of its users.
  • On this single platform, you can find master data for all courses and institutions across India.
  • It is also an excellent tool for departments and ministries in the form of DSS (Decision Support System)

2022-23 National Scholarship Portal (NSP) – Why was it created?

What was the impetus for creating this portal? This is a natural question to arise in your mind. The primary goals for developing this National Scholarship Portal are as follows:

  • To ensure that scholarships are distributed to students in a timely manner.
  • To provide a centralized platform for both federal and state government scholarships.
  • to build a transparent database of scholars
  • To avoid duplication during the application processing
  • To harmonize the various scholarships and their standards
  • To ensure that DBT is used (Direct Benefit Transfer)

How can students benefit from the National Scholarship Portal (NSP)?

Now that you are aware of the advantages that the National Scholarship Portal provides to students, here is how you can make the most of it:

  • Check your eligibility for the available NSP scholarships.
  • Register with the National Scholarship Portal and apply for the scholarships for which you are eligible.
  • Make online application submissions as simple as possible.
  • The online application will be verified by the authorities. In the meantime, you can check the status of your application via the portal.
